Six years ago, at age 74, I decided it was time to learn to play an instrument. I have always enjoyed many types of music, especially classical and piano is my favorite instrument. I enjoy the challenge of training my wayward brain to do things it is not accustomed to doing and to be able play beautiful music and occasionally make it sound beautiful.
I began my lessons with a teacher until Covid forced me into zooming lessons. Two years ago I again searched for a piano teacher and I have been very happy to have found Janice. Her lessons have been by far the most productive and enjoyable I have had. She has been unfailingly patient and positive, and she has given me many valuable technique tips that have accelerated my progress. What is most important for me is that she provides the motivation for me to continue.
Learning to play has been difficult for me but it has also been very rewarding and I do not expect to ever give it up as long as I have a teacher like Janice Derian. H.T.

I retired in my 60’s and knew one of the things I wanted to do was learn how to play the piano. I had never played any instrument in my life. Janice was recommended to me by a neighbor. From the very first lesson she made me feel so comfortable and was very open to what I wanted to play. I’ve been taking lessons for about five years.
